Daijosai is a kind of harvest festival, which is held by the Imperial Family in Court after enthronement ceremony. The Imperial Family holds harvest festival in Court every year though, the first one after the enthronement is called Daijosai, and is held in a special shrine as shown in the picture. This shrine was temporarily built just for Daijosai. The new Emperor offers newly harvested rice and 4 other kinds of grains to the ancestors of Imperial Family and the gods of nature in this humble shrine. This time-honored rite started in the 7th century and has come down to the present after passing through various vicissitudes. Naruhito, present Emperor (the 126th), was enthroned on Oct. 22nd, 2019, then carried out Daijosai on Nov. 14th and 15th, 2019.
