'Kozagawa-no-Ichimaiiwa' monolith in Wakayama Prefecture.

A huge rock, 150 meters high and 800 meters wide, is found by the riverside of the Koza running in the south of Wakayama Prefecture. This monolith is extremely hard homogeneous tuff, and is designated as a natural monument by the Government. This type of huge solid rock is rare in Japan, because one big rock, in most cases, gradually breaks into smaller rocks over time, by weathering and repeated earthquakes.
