Imamiya Ebisu Shinto Shrine in Naniwa-ku, Osaka, is widely known as a god of thriving business.

Among many prestigious shrines with a long history in Osaka, this shrine is one of the oldest ones. It is said that this was built in 600, as a guardian of neighboring Shitenno-ji Temple. From the second half of the 17th century, Toka-Ebisu festival has been going since, so this shrine has gradually been believed a god for business. This festival has been greatly supported by the local merchants in Osaka for thriving business, since Osaka was Japan's largest business area at that time. During the Second World War, unfortunately, most buildings of this shrine were reduced to ashes though, they were reconstructed after the war. This shrine attracts many Osakans during Toka-Ebisu festival, on January 9th through 11th every year, so that they buy auspicious bamboo grass which is believed a token of thriving business.
