'Shibamata Taishakuten' Buddhist Temple in Katsushika-ku, Tokyo.

This is a Buddhist Temple of Nichiren sect, built in 1629. Both sides of the approach to the temple are lined with many shops and restaurants focusing on mugwort rice cakes, freshwater fish food and a variety of souvenirs. Entering the precincts through Nitenmon Gate in the first picture, Taishakudo hall and Hondo main hall are found as shown in the second picture. Since the Edo period (the 17th-19th century), it has long been worshipped by the locals. This temple thereafter became a subject matter of literary works, which resulted in nationwide fame. In particular, thanks to a series of movie films 'Otoko-wa-Tsuraiyo', a total of 50 works from 1967 to 2019 and the story of which took place here, made all Japanese necessarily turn to know this temple.
