Mizumoto-koen is the largest municipal park in Tokyo.

Updated: 4 days ago

Being located in Katsushika-ku, Tokyo, this wetland park lies on the reclaimed land from the riverside area of the Edo River. This site used to be a farmland in the 18th-19th century though, Tokyo Metropolitan Government converted it into the wetland park in 1965. With successive expansion works, till 1987, this park was almost completed as it is now. Many facilities suitable for the wetland park, such as the aquatic botanical gardens, Japanese iris gardens and water bird sanctuary are found here. Visitors can also enjoy fishing in Koaidame, a long pond made by damming up a nearby tributary stream. The pictures show the lotus pond as well as grove of metasequoia in this park.
